My daughter and her husband had a very special day in a medieval barn venue in the Suffolk countryside. The overall theme was elegant rustic and as planet friendly as possible with as many home-made or recycled items as possible. And an injection of science here and there to cater to the many scientists and engineers among their guests. Even our photographer had a physics degree!

We served iced coffee and teas before the ceremony from our glass dispensers and later they were repurposed for water at the reception. We had cocktails and canapes on the terrace while playing the garden games we had arranged on the lawn. The reception tables had been laid with linens with the centre pieces of log slices, an assortment of clear glass bottles and herbs. And they danced til midnight and left under a cloud of bubbles on their hessian 'runway'.
